Mila’s story
Falling for her sister’s boyfriend is the last thing Mila meant to do. Late-night entries in her journal come first, then jealous looks, and finally a connection deeper than any she has experienced. Although the title speaks to the boyfriend, the synopsis stays with Mila.
Why the length matters
Ten episodes make it double the usual Candy length, and very few series in the catalogue go past five. The premise benefits from the space. An attraction that builds slowly on the pages of a diary cannot be rushed, and the synopsis reads as a romance before it reads as a taboo setup.
The diary is a smart detail. It hints at an inner monologue and gives the story an excuse to go slowly, and it lends Mila more of an inner life than most characters on Candy get. Seen from the younger sister’s point of view, the jealousy and guilt become part of the draw instead of getting in its way.
The catch with a longer series
More episodes mean a bigger bill. With eight locked episodes at 12 tokens apiece, the total is 96 tokens, nearly all of the 100 tokens in a monthly plan, with just 4 left over.
