The setup
Your father has a new girlfriend, Colette, who is far younger than he is. Warm and easygoing, she is hard to miss. From the outset the pull between you is obvious, and the series asks whether certain lines are there to be crossed.
The second-person framing makes you the son, which leaves your father as the one who would be betrayed. Only Colette gets a name and a description; everything else is saved for the episodes themselves.
One episode more than usual
Length is what stands out most about Dad’s New Girlfriend. At 6 episodes instead of the standard five, it is one of just two series in the catalogue to run that long. For a slow burn made of glances and hesitation, the bonus episode counts: the tension gets an extra step before anything resolves.
