Meet Simona
Simona Rossi dropped out of college, has dated a series of dubious men and now lives with parents who have turned very strict. Things with her stepbrother were never simple, and to add to the pile, she is catching feelings for him that she never wanted.
The notable thing about the synopsis is how much space it gives Simona herself instead of the attraction. You get a past, a family setup and the sense of a life coming apart on several fronts at once. The stepbrother plot holds it together, but it is framed within a portrait of one character.
What fifteen episodes buy
Fifteen episodes make it three times as long as a regular Candy series, and that opens up new options. A five-parter must jump from setup to payoff almost at once. Here there is space for the strict parents, the past and Simona’s own second thoughts to steer the relationship, which is exactly what the “wrong but right” in the title suggests.
It is also more generous than usual at the start. No other series in the catalogue offers three free episodes rather than two, so Simona Rossi lets you see more before you commit. The drawback of any long series is the investment: should the slow burn fail to grab you, you will realize it well before the finale, with more tokens already spent.
