The plot in brief
Kyle’s dad has married again and promptly gone away for the summer, and the title leaves no doubt that his new wife, Skye, is young. Alone in the house with Kyle, Skye sets out a few simple rules: sit down, no touching, just look. Once her best friend comes over, though, the rulebook is abandoned entirely.
Why it works: the rules flip
Its shape is its biggest strength. Skye begins firmly in charge with tight limits, and her friend’s visit is the turning point that moves things beyond look-but-don’t-touch. That simple two-act design suits five episodes, and the friend supplies a second character for Skye to bounce off.
Originality is another matter. A missing dad, a young stepmom and a summer stretching ahead come close to standard Candy issue, and apart from the rules the synopsis offers nothing to distinguish it. No rival is mentioned, and neither is a deadline such as Dad coming home, so any tension rests on Skye and on the moment her friend arrives.
