The premise in brief
Moving in with his girlfriend also puts Jake under the same roof as her stepmom. It starts with a single rule she sets for him. A blindfold follows. After that comes a family tradition no one bothered to mention in advance. According to the synopsis, once her husband gets home, the entire household is in on something and Jake is the only one left out.
More than its tags suggest
Judged by its tags, it could pass for dozens of other Candy series. What sets it apart is how it is built. The synopsis climbs in distinct stages, each odder than the one before, and closes on a reveal in which the family apparently knows more than the new arrival. That lends the five episodes an air of mystery few stepmom stories even try for.
Making Jake the outsider is a clever move as well, because you discover how the house works exactly as fast as he does.
A word of caution
Any twist depends on its payoff, and whether this one delivers is something we cannot promise. “Family tradition” might turn out to be inventive or entirely basic. Use the free episodes to judge whether the setup makes you curious enough to see it through.
