The premise
When Dad leaves for a business trip, the house goes to his new wife, Ava, and so do you; the arrangement names you specifically. Before he goes, he tells you to do whatever she says. Ava takes him at his word and turns that line into an actual rule, and before long it is obvious she has more in mind for you than chores. What the synopsis leans on hardest is that you cannot refuse.
The series is well aware that its hook fits in one line. The whole thing rests on a single sentence from a father who is not there, and on how far his wife is prepared to push it.
What makes the hook work, and where it thins out
The draw is the imbalance of power. Ava is more than a stepmom down the hall: someone gave her authority, and the story follows what she does with it. That is a clearer driving force than most Candy stepmom stories have, since so many of them hinge on a chance meeting or a locked door.
Its weak spot is that the synopsis stops there. Nothing mentions a rival, a chance of Dad returning early, or any second complication. Should the premise fail to hook you in the first few minutes, nothing on paper hints that the story changes course later on.
