What the synopsis sets up
In search of a relic, a human thief sneaks into the realm of an elven princess. She catches him red-handed and, instead of having him executed, chooses to keep him. What develops between them is forbidden, and it now threatens her throne, inflames her jealous fiancé and puts her entire kingdom in danger.
Real fantasy stakes
Among Candy synopses, this one is unusually heavy on plot. A heist kicks things off, then come a captor-and-captive arrangement, her betrothed as a rival, and stakes bigger than the couple: a crown and a whole kingdom. Those are the building blocks of a fantasy romance novel, and they give five short episodes more to lean on than the typical single situation.
Note the balance of power, too. From the moment she catches him, every card is in the princess’s hand, and whether the thief lives is up to her. That is the draw for anyone who enjoys a commanding royal figure.
Keeping expectations in check
Five episodes is not much room for a conflict on the scale of a kingdom. In-depth court intrigue is unlikely; expect the betrothed and the danger to the crown to act as pressure on the romance, not as fully developed subplots. Nor does the synopsis explain the relic or what the “sunken court” is.

The break-in and the capture are set up in episodes 1 and 2, both free, and they are the clearest test of whether this world appeals to you. The series has no score on our explicitness scale yet. Only a few series carry Candy’s Fantasy tag, but they are strong ones. Sworn to the Queen also centers on royalty, carries the Fantasy and Taboo tags and scores 5 out of 5. Dragon Queen’s Dark Desire and Vampire’s Lust score 5 out of 5 as well, and all three cost the same 36 tokens. Those are the safer bets if you want the genre’s top-rated titles with an explicitness score already in place.
Where we land
A trespassing thief, the princess who lets him live, her envious fiancé and a kingdom hanging in the balance: few setups on Candy are richer than the one in Trespasser of the Sunken Court. There is only so much five episodes can do with it, yet the premise hands them plenty of material. The two free episodes are well worth your time, and for 36 tokens, finishing it is probably worthwhile.
