The plot in outline
It starts with an awkward mishap that pushes a rebellious goth and her stepbrother into each other’s orbit. The hidden romance that follows is more than either of them can keep in check, and it spirals on until their stepmom gets pulled in too, so the forbidden couple becomes a trio.
There is a real arc in the synopsis, moving from accident to secret to escalation to a third party. Plenty of five-parters get less structure than that, and it gives the series a direction beyond the opening instead of replaying a single situation. Once the stepmom arrives, the second half of the story has its purpose.
