The premise
Candy’s synopsis is told in the first person, by the boyfriend. His girlfriend’s older sister has just come out of a divorce and moves into their spare room for two weeks. She is restless, she is right down the hall, and in his words she is impossible to ignore.
Why this new series is absolutely wild
The setup does a lot with very little. A divorce gives the sister a reason to be reckless: she has just lost a marriage and has nothing left to protect. The spare room puts her inside the couple’s home, not across town. And the two-week deadline adds a clock, so whatever is going to happen has to happen before she packs her bags.
The poster tells the rest of the story at a glance: the sister walks up the path with her suitcase, in black leather, while the couple waits on the porch behind her. It is a clean, grown-up version of the girlfriend’s-sister fantasy, and it knows exactly which button it is pressing.
The first-person synopsis is another plus. It puts you in the boyfriend’s place from the first line, which suits a story that lives on temptation, stolen looks and the question of how long he can hold out.
