The premise
The newly appointed night manager of a stately old hotel quickly works out that no other man is on the overnight roster. Room service falls to him, and behind each guest’s door waits another woman who appears determined that his first night on the job stays with him.
The synopsis stops there, and it is honest about the format: one night of back-to-back encounters, not a plot with a rival or a twist. Think of the hotel as the frame and each room as a chapter.
Why the structure stands out
The typical Candy five-parter revolves around a single relationship, and more often than not a taboo one set in a family home. My First Night Shift heads in the opposite direction. You get no stepmother, no fiancée and no partner to hide things from, so the premise ranks among the lightest on Candy.
