One pill, one exception

She is in charge of the study, and the man who slipped Owen the drug is her husband. She decides to put him to the test in that husband’s lab, while Owen counts down ten days until the effect destroys his eyesight.
Why the idea is fun
Think of it as a comic-book concept aimed at adults, and a welcome bit of silliness next to all the family dramas in the catalogue. The cleverest part of the pitch is the single woman who stays opaque to him: that exception converts the gimmick into a puzzle and hands the plot something to aim at. Ten days on the clock, plus a husband who set the whole experiment in motion, supply the stakes and a background villain. The campus research-study setting adds a reason for the story beyond its trick, casting Dr. Larrea as both the scientist running things and the one person Owen cannot read.
Where it could fall short
Gimmicks of this kind tire quickly, and whether five episodes feel ideal or too short will depend on how much of the mystery gets answered. Apart from his new power, Owen is a blank in the synopsis.
